Rev. Albert Herman Brower

I found this gem today searching through newspaper articles on Ancestry.com. Finally a face to go with the story of Rev. Albert Herman Brower, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church of Sacramento, Community Baptist Church of San Leandro and First Baptist Church of West Sacramento.

Albert Herman Brower

I've been working diligently on finding more information on the descendants of James Jeremiah Brower and Pearl Chase. As previously stated, this is the only Brower line, besides my father, who have survived the generations from my 4th Grandfather Jeremiah John Brower. I would love to find living relatives of this line and share information.

Children of James Jeremiah Brower and Rocelah Pearl Chase:

Son #1: John E. Brower, born Bet. 1912–1913 in Crow Wing, Minnesota. He married Florence A. Emberry in Buchanan, St. Joseph, Missouri. Florence was the daughter of Jacob J. Emberry and Catharine Cecilia Fisher.

So far I have only found one child for John E. Brower and Florence A. Emberry and he is Larry W. Brower  born in 1943, St. Joseph, Missouri, married to Jenila. Larry passed away in 2011.

Children of Larry W. Brower and Jenila are, Bambi Lynn Brower, Tammy Brower and Kathleen Brower.

Son #2: Albert Herman Brower, born 20 Feb 1914 in Crow Wing, Minnesota. He married Emily A. Stokowski (spelling?). Albert passed away in 1996, in Sacramento, California.

Children of Albert Herman Brower and Emily A. Stokowski are Everette James Brower, Eugene "Gene" Albert Brower, and Beverly Joyce Brower.

Daughter: Bertha Lillian Brower, born 16 Feb 1917 in Crow Wing, Minnesota. She passed away 11 Apr 1917 in Crow Wing, Minnesota and is buried next to her Aunt Idella Brower in Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd, Minnesota. There is no tombstone for Bertha.

Obituary of Albert Herman Brower

The Sacramento Bee 1996-12-02 OBITUARIES METRO FINAL B5    Jan Ferris Bee Staff Writer THE REV. ALBERT H. BROWER HAD MISSIONARY ZEAL The Rev. Albert H. Brower will be remembered not only for spreading the word from his own pulpit, but for launching a number of churches in Northern California as a Baptist home missionary. "Al has been a real bulwark for decades," said the Rev. Gary Clements of the First Baptist Church of West Sacramento, where the late Rev. Brower served as interim pastor about nine years ago.

The Rev. Brower died Thursday at Kaiser Hospital in south Sacramento, where he also served on the Ethics Committee. He was 82. "There will be a real void in our whole fellowship," added Clements. "There was no one else like him in the Northern California area." The Rev. Brower, a native of Brainard, Minn., turned to pastoring after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the pastor of five churches, including his last full-time assignment at Sacramento's Colonial Baptist Church.

In 1970, he launched the Colonial Christian Academy. When he retired in 1976, the Rev. Brower became active in Western Baptist Home Missions, devoting his ministry to starting new churches. "He was committed for years and years and years. He never faltered, never wavered," said Clements. "Even in his 70s and 80s, he was still actively speaking. He would go in sometimes (as an interim pastor) and preach there for months."

Emily Stockroski, the pastor's wife of 58 years, died in 1993. The Rev. Brower is survived by his sons, Everette James of Sacramento and Eugene Albert of Fort Bragg; a daughter, Beverly Joyce Snow of Texas; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Sacramento Garden Chapel Mortuary, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of West Sacramento, 1511 Delaware Ave.

Eugene "Gene" Albert Brower, son of Albert Herman Brower and Emily A. Stokowski, born in 1936, St. Joseph, Missouri, married Alberta (last name unknown at this time).
