"Doctor Attempts Suicide Milo - For some reason unknown, Dr. W. B. Stumbaugh, age 45, a prominent resident of Lacona, shot himself with a revolver while at the home of James Brower of near Lacona Thursday afternoon."
Note: W.B. Stumbaugh was really Dr. William David Stumbaugh born September 26, 1857, son of James S. Stumbaugh and Barbara Woods, cousin of James Allen Brower. Just 8 years later in 1920, James Brower also takes his own life by gunshot on the same property, in the barn.

Only a few months prior to Dr. Stumbaugh committing suicide he was assaulted and injured. Is this all coincidental? Was Dr. Stumbaugh involved in some shady business with the wrong people or was he staging his first attempted suicide and failed?
